Milsim coordination app with a real chain of command

A milsim game lives or dies on coordination. A Commander needs to know where the squads are, and the squads need to know what the Commander wants. Radios carry voice well, but a map shows in two seconds what takes a minute to describe. TacLink is a milsim coordination app built around the chain of command, not around chat.

Commander, Squads, Squad leaders

Each side has one Commander, set by the organizer on the web. The side is split into Squads, each with a Squad leader. When players join, the server places them in a squad, keeping teammates together when there is room. Staff can move players between squads and change the Commander or Squad leaders from the app during the event.

The Commander sees the positions of the whole side. Every player sees their side, with a filter for their own squad.

Orders

An order is one of six types: Move to, Hold, Attack, Defend, Regroup or Retreat. It carries a point on the map and an optional one-line note. The Commander sends orders to the whole side or to one squad. A Squad leader sends orders to their squad.

The order appears as a card on the live map. Receivers tap Acknowledged, and the sender sees who has acknowledged and who has not. There is no chat to scroll through and no thread to lose.

Coordination without signal

Milsim fields are often woods and old military ground with poor coverage. TacLink downloads the event at join, while players are at the meeting point. During the game, phones on the same side pass positions, markers, status and orders to each other over Bluetooth. When one phone has signal it bridges the side to the server. Orders issued with no signal stay on the side’s phones until a bridge or signal carries them to the server.

Set up by the organizer

The organizer builds the event in the browser: area, sides, squads with a target size, commanders, schedule, player cap, map image and pins for HQs and objectives. Publishing gives one QR code per side. Players scan it at the meeting point and land on the right side.

Price

Players never pay and see no ads. Events up to 15 players are free. Above that the organizer pays once per event on the web, from 15 EUR for up to 40 players. See pricing.
